KHARTOUM SEPTEMBER 5: Rapid Support Forces has opened youth and women house in Khairat city, Eastern River Nile locality on Saturday, September 3. Colonel Musa Hamid Ambello stressed that achieving comprehensive peace in Sudan, is one of the transitional sovereignty council vice president’s priorities, pointing out that peace is one of the main pillars to maintain stability and development in the country, calling upon all people to stand together to maintain peace and stability in Sudan.
In December we reported on sexual violence and harassment by coup forces. The information was provided by the UN Human Rights Office. The United Nations Human Rights Office has said that it had received 13 allegations of rape and gang rape by security forces during protests in Sudan. Many specifically pointed out the Rapid Support Forces as the shameless and cowardly perpetrators.
Allegations of rape have followed the RSF for a long time. Ever since they were formed. Against this background, it seems strange that exactly Rapid Support Forces is opening a women’s house. Maybe they want the women gathered in one place, just in case the urge strikes. It is also difficult to see Mohamed Dagalo as a man of peace and justice.
According to the Rapid Support Force’s own statement, “Khairat City Mayor, Yasin Abdel-Rahman thanked the transitional sovereignty council vice president for his concern for Khairat city, and Sudan, praising the roles of the RSF Reconciliation and Peace Committee to resolve Khairat city issues”.
