KHARTOUM May 4: In Sudan, three-wheeler vehicles have long been a popular and affordable transport. But the country is gripped by an economic crisis, a soaring price of oil and political unrest. A clever entrepreneur has bet on the potential of electric vehicles.
The economic crisis, Sudan’s electricity supplies have suffered too, with frequent power cuts. The solution to that problem is called solar power – a resource that Sudan has a lot of. Solar power is the conversion of renewable energy from sunlight into electricity. Together with onshore wind, the cheapest levelised cost of electricity is utility-scale solar.
This solar power system could also be combined with wind power. To be able to charge the vehicles while not in use, or for charging when it is dark.
