UNICEF launch digital tool for child protection

UNICEF and its partners, launched in April the Primero digital tool and mobile application. This is a digital tool that is used for case management and it will allow social workers to register cases of violence against children.

KHARTOUM, April 2022: UNICEF and its partners, the National Council on Child Welfare (NCCW) and the Ministry of Social Development launched in April the Primero/ CPIMS+ digital tool and mobile application as part of sustained efforts to promote the use of a standard inter-agency Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS+) for the child protection actors.

Primero as well as coordinate timely and efficient referral of cases through various protection sectors such as police, social and medical services.

The tool will lead to better documentation of cases, facilitate case planning and ensure that all cases benefit from referrals for service-provision, and this is much-needed in low-income countries with low numbers of social workers.

“This launch is a significant milestone for child protection programming in Sudan and has been achieved following 18 months of participatory collaboration”, said Mandeep O’Brien, UNICEF Representative in Sudan.

Primero will help social workers in Sudan register and monitor cases as well as store and share protection related data that can be used for planning, programming and advocacy.
