Lorine Zineb Nora Talhaoui is a gifted Swedish songwriter, pop singer and record producer. She is known as Loreen. Representing Sweden, she won the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, with her entry “Euphoria”. Euphoria reached all the way to number one in many European countries, including Germany and Sweden.
She could have had far greater successes. But she has chosen to prioritize the artistic over the commercial. A very wise choice. Winners of various talent competitions are products. Sometimes very good products. But still just products. Her choice shows that she is a true talent. And her choice may be crucial in the future.
Loreen was born (October 1983) in Stockholm, Sweden, to Moroccan Berber immigrant parents. She was raised in a liberal Muslim household. She has 5 siblings. As the eldest, she had to take great responsibility for her siblings. Loreen became known to Swedish audiences after taking part in the Swedish Idol 2004 competing as Lorén Talhaoui.
With Euphoria Loreen got a big hit. But perhaps more relevant to Sudan is another of her hits. Perhaps especially for the female revolutionaries. Namely a song called “Statements“.
Inspired by historical moments of defiance as well as the recent surge in social activism, “Statements” is a political anthem calling out those who fail to act in the fight against injustice. Instead of writing meaningless statements on social media, take the matters into our own hands and fight for those who can’t.
Moreover, I think al-Burhan has lost all dignity, honor and identity.
He is an enemy of God, the Sudanese, and the humanity.
