Military and government sources said that the attempt involved a group of officers who were “immediately suspended” after they “failed” to take over the state media building.
Reports from the capital Khartoum and nearby Omdurman say there has been intense military activity, and the main bridge across the River Nile has been closed. The plotters had tried to take over the state media building, AFP reports.
Senior ruling body member, Mohamed Al-Fekki said: “Everything is under control and the revolution is victorious.”
