KHARTOUM NOVEMBER 7: Ukrainian special forces have allegedly been filmed fighting with Wagner mercenaries in Sudan. A two-minute clip published by the Kyiv Post newspaper purports to show an elite unit of Ukraine’s military intelligence service surrounding a building at ground level.

Infrared footage captured by a spotter drone shows at least two figures standing inside a second-floor room. Several rocket-propelled grenades are then fired into the building, where the men were spotted.

At one point, some of the figures begin to fire back towards the Ukrainian operatives while others can be seen escaping into a dense urban area. The footage was seemingly shot at night.

A second drone video shot during the day appeared to show a number of men running through the streets of a populated town as explosions rang out in the area. The source of the blasts is unclear, but some of the strikes trigger fireballs that stretch the length of some of the low-rise buildings.

The Special Operations Forces (SSO) are the special forces of Ukraine and one of the seven branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with headquarters in Kyiv. The SSO has the roles including various special forces-related duties such as direct action, special reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, sabotage and psychological warfare. They are not the only special forces units in Ukraine.
