MOSCOW DECEMBER 26: Russian President Vladimir Putin called the conflict in Ukraine a “war” for the first time instead of a “special military operation” as deadly attacks continued over Christmas weekend. Ukraine also managed a successful drone attack deep into Russia.

Last night, another explosion took place at the Engels airfield in the Saratov region of Russia. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the explosion was caused by an attack by Ukrainian drones. An overnight drone attack targeted the Engels airbase deep inside Russia for the second time this month.

The ministry said that 3 soldiers and 4 people were injured as a result of the attack. There was a fire covering 120 square meters on the territory of the airport. It should be noted that Russian strategic missile-carrying Tu-95 and Tu-10 aircraft are located at this airfield. A few days ago, a Tu-95 aircraft carrying two strategic missiles was damaged as a result of an attack by a Ukrainian drone on this airfield.

The previous attack happened on December 5. New York Times has reported that Ukraine carried out the attack with drones and the help of a military reconnaissance unit coordinating it deep inside Russian territory.
